KL Cube and Hippo T&C Sign MOU for Joint Development of AI Sign Language-Based Digital Healthcare
KL Cube, a sign language service company specializing in AI sign language avatars, and Hippo T&C, a digital healthcare specialist, announced on the 18th that they have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly develop an accessibility-based healthcare model.
The two organizations aim to converge AI sign language technology with digital healthcare technology to create digital healthcare services that can be genuinely understood and used by information-vulnerable populations, including the Deaf community. As existing digital healthcare services have been designed primarily around text and voice—creating structural barriers for Deaf users—the partners plan to jointly design a new service model that places a sign language-based interface at the forefront.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will accelerate collaboration across three core areas: (1) joint research and proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives for digital healthcare-based psychological assessment services for the Deaf, (2) R&D for advancing AI sign language recognition and related technologies, and (3) joint planning and execution of government research and commercialization projects.
In particular, both companies will focus on implementing psychological assessment services for the Deaf in a digital environment. By designing a structure that leverages AI sign language avatars to provide test guidance, question explanations, and result feedback entirely in sign language, the partners plan to address the accessibility limitations of conventional text-based psychological and emotional assessment systems. Through this work, they aim to establish a standard model applicable to public health, mental health, and welfare sectors.
KL Cube has supplied sign language services to public institutions and the financial sector based on its AI sign language generation technology, which automatically converts voice or text input into natural sign language video. Hippo T&C brings digital health management capabilities and expertise in psychological and medical data analysis, and the integration of its data collection and analytics technologies with KL Cube's AI sign language interface is expected to enhance the overall completeness of the service.
Representatives from both organizations stated, "AI sign language technology goes beyond simple translation—it is a core infrastructure for implementing digital accessibility," and added, "The essence of this collaboration is to create an environment where the Deaf can participate as active agents in the digital healthcare space." They continued, "Based on the results of our joint research, we will actively pursue government R&D projects and pilot programs to expand into the public and medical sectors."
The convergence of AI sign language and digital healthcare carries significance beyond mere technological integration—it sets a new standard for "comprehensible medical services." The industry is watching closely to see whether this partnership will serve as a benchmark for accessibility standards in the public health sector.
