AI-Powered Digital Transformation Initiative for Public Healthcare Systems Kicks Off

[Seoul=Yonhap News] Reporter Cho Seong-mi - The National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) announced on the 15th that six consortia, including the Deepnoid consortium, have been newly selected as part of an initiative to support the digital transformation of AI-based healthcare systems.

This initiative, led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and NIPA, aims to reduce regional disparities in healthcare and improve the quality of public healthcare services. Since last year, the program has provided support for the digital transformation of public healthcare institutions. Unlike the previous year, where hospitals led the consortia, this year’s program is centered around ICT companies. Each consortium will receive up to 2 billion KRW (approximately 20 million USD) over two years.

The Deepnoid consortium will focus on developing AI solutions for lung and brain diseases, connecting emergency patients with nearby health centers, and utilizing cloud-based hospital information systems, particularly in Masan, Suncheon, and Seogwipo medical centers.

The Hi consortium will demonstrate AI-based digital therapeutic solutions for stroke patients' language and cognitive rehabilitation at Boramae Hospital and Kangwon National University Hospital.

In the field of mental health, the HIPPO T&C consortium will enhance specialized AI solutions for managing Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and depressive disorders. Meanwhile, the NewDive consortium will concentrate on addressing autism spectrum disorders and social communication disorders.
